    Kayaking/ marsh exploration Day

Kids will be introduced to paddling skills and proper technique, before heading off on a guided paddle to one of the local barrier islands. Destination is based on tide and weather for the day. Upon arrival, the group will gather local marine life to talk about and a brief learning session will be held to talk about the local environment. They will use things like crab pots/lines, seine nets, scoop nets, cast nets, and tongs.

    Tubing Day

For this day, the kids will set up camp at a local island while the captain takes them in groups of 6 out to tube. They will get 1 morning session on a standard tube and then 1 afternoon session on 6 person tube to shuttle them back to the shop. On the island, they will enjoy lunch, games, water mats, a fishing station, kayaking, and more.

    Fishing Day

Shuttled out to our fishing location, the kids will quickly get into the action catching various small bottom fish. While this goes on, the captain will take them in groups of 6 out to target larger species such as red drum, sheepshead, trout and more.

    Shelling/Shark tooth/Sandollar day

After individual bags are handed out, we will head out for a day of scavenging! Sharks teeth and Sand dollars are abundant on the local islands, and shells like whelks, olives and other seaside treasures are likely to be found.

Bear island or Sand bar day (always the last day)

After a long week of adventure, its time for a day of beaching. Floats, mats, tubes, and more water /sand toys and gear will be brought for the kids to use. Along with fishing rods and weather dependent, some kayaks. Throughout the day we will play different group games on the beach and in the water.

Campers will learn the following: kayaking skills, water safety/knowledge, fishing skills, our coastal history, environmental awareness, and more. Each day will be filled with a mix of water activities, free/play time, a learning period, and lunch breaks.

We are offering Pogie's Farm Camp. This will be a week-long camp, hosted at our farm in Maysville.

Drop off 8am pick up 6pm

    12 kid camp.

most bring lunch, change of clothes, towel, sunscreen, and bug spray.

Our long-time employee, navy corpsman, and Pennsylvania born farmer, David Getz, will be the Camp Lead at Farm Camp. The days at Farm Camp will consist of: a day of learning about livestock, a day of archery and roping, a day of gardening and harvesting, a day of pedaling in a four-seater go-cart around our extensive trails, and a day of what the campers choose to do.

The cost of this camp will be $300 per child per week.

The purpose of this camp will be to give kids a hands-on experience and a glimpse of traditional agriculture and animal husbandry here in North Carolina.

Any camp at Pogie's is always fun, and just like our traditional water camp, there will be plenty of fun and games going on throughout the day, with a major focus on educating with hands-on learning. Campers, if they would like, are able to take home a variety of plants, produce, eggs, and other farm goodies such as goat milk soaps that are included in the price of the week-long camp.

You may be thinking this is far-fetched from the 'on the water' Pogie's you've grown to know, but in fact before he started Pogie's, our owner Ethan owned and operated a traditional farm where he practiced farming, and achevied an AWA(Animal Welfare Approved) certification for his livestock side of things. Ethan's background and David's 18+ years of farming experience provides us the ability to offer this unique opportunity to your kids. description
